There is no clear date of when Thai’s began to weave silk. Over centuries, Thai weavers reputations grew globally for their intricacy and uses of vibrant colours.
With elusive dates of origin, it’s incredible that these skills and techniques have been passed through generations to the dwindling artisans of today.

Silk weaving today still involves specialist tools that were used during archaic periods, though through ingenuity, artisans have made their own improvements to suit their techniques. Making each tool have sentimental significance to each artist and are irreplaceable.

Due to Thai silk pieces being hand-woven on wooden looms, it could take up to 60 days until a highly detailed piece is completed. The artisan would then sell their creative pieces as art to those who desired luxurious wear.
